What is an Accessory Dwelling Unit?

An Accessory Dwelling Unit (ADU), also known as a Granny Flat, or Companion Unit is a second rentable unit that a homeowner can build on a residential lot.

Faced with a major affordable housing crisis, the California legislature reset the regulations for ADUs providing more homeowners than ever the opportunity to build a second unit on single family lots.
